Solid Waste Fuels Multiflex Feeder Upgrade

Customer: Boral Cement Works, Berrima NSW

Project Type: Engineering and Construction

Control system: Allen Bradley Control Logix

Touchstone was awarded the complete electrical construction and electrical engineering package for the kiln solid waste fuels feeder upgrade. The project consisted of electrical engineering works for the installation of a new agitator drive and the upgrade of existing screw feeder drives on the new Multiflex Feeder.

The decommissioning and removal of the existing machine, along with the installation and commissioning of the new Multiflex feeder took place over the annual January shutdown at Berrima Cement Works.

Key aspects of the project included:

  • Electrical engineering design of three new VSD drives and associated single line diagrams, schematics and terminal connection diagrams.
  • Electrical construction of new MCC cells for the new drives.
  • Installation and commissioning of the new Multiflex feeder including loadcells, pressure and temperature transmitters, and controlled slide gates.

This project was successfully installed safety, on time with a restricted timeframe and budget.
